The 14 Eye

Introducing our new 14 eye men's derby boot. A simple derby boot design with 14 eyelets - he is tall and chunky but super lightweight. Cut from waxy Black Chromexcel from the famous Chicago tannery Horween, he is made skin to box in the Grenson factory in Northamptonshire. He has a tonal leather storm welt and chunky but lightweight Commando sole.

Chromexcel is tanned using a base of chrome salts (hence the name) which is then bark tanned and impregnated with natural oils and greases creating a pull up leather that is heavy weight but remains soft, supple and is also very durable. This does mean that the leather picks up marks quite easily but if you simply rub the leather with a cloth the greases restore the finish. This is all part of the character of the leather which will develop over time and it’s also what makes the leather wear well and over time become more characterful.
